This is an exciting time of transition for Virginia’s services system.
The Commonwealth is currently implementing the
System Transformation
Initiative designed to enhance community-based care for individuals, and
at the same time make some overdue investments in the infrastructure of the
state facilities. The initiative represents the opportunity for a historic
step forward for Virginia.
In addition, DMHMRSAS continues to focus on its Vision of self-determination, empowerment and recovery. It means being responsive to the needs and preferences of consumers and families. The vision challenges DMHMRSAS to change the culture, philosophy and values, and to fully embrace the concepts of recovery, as outlined in our Integrated Strategic Plan and Agency Strategic Plan.
